Public Chauffeurs dataset is not updating

We have suspended updates of the Public Chauffeurs dataset due to an issue with the source system.  We hope to be able to restart them later today. The current version of the dataset likely includes few updates to chauffeur records made today.

We will modify this post with any significant updates to the situation.

Update 12/7/2015, 4:30 pm - We will not be able to restart the updates today. We plan to do at least a one-time update from a secondary data source tomorrow morning and hope to resume hourly, business-hour updates later in the day.

Update 12/8/2015, 11:30 am - Did the one-time update from the secondary source last updated at midnight last night.

Update 12/9/2015, 11:45 am - The source system issue is taking longer to resolve than expected. We, again, did a one-time update from the secondary source last updated at midnight last night and will continue to do so daily, if necessary. We will update this post when we have returned to normal updates.

Update 12/11/2015, 5:00 pm - We have returned to normal updates of this dataset.

Building Violations dataset is not updating properly - 11/17/2015

We recently discovered that the Building Violations dataset is not picking up new records with each daily update.  We are investigating.

Update 11/20/2015 - We found and fixed the problem.  The dataset should be updating properly again.

New Department of Transportation permits dataset

As part of the City of Chicago’s transition to conducting more processes paperlessly, the Department of Transportation will be implementing a new permitting system on 12/7/2015. This transition will affect datasets on the Data Portal.

The following datasets will become historical only:

• Street Closure Permits - Current
• Public Right-of-Way Use Permits

Corresponding data will be available in the new Transportation Department Permits dataset.

Changes to Roadway Construction Moratoriums dataset

Due to a change in data source, we will be making the following changes to the Roadway Construction Moratoriums dataset on Friday, 11/13/2015:

• Adding a START DATE column
• Each record will represent an entire moratorium stretch of street. In the current structure, each block is a separate record.
• Removing the WARD_ODD and WARD_EVEN columns.

Towed Vehicles dataset is not updating - 11/3/2015

The Towed Vehicles dataset, which normally updates every 15 minutes, has not updated since 9:46 am today. We think we have found the root cause and that the dataset will start updating again at about 6 pm.

This problem will affect services that depend on the dataset or the data source that feeds it.  These services include http://webapps1.cityofchicago.org/vehicleSearch and http://www.wasmycartowed.com.

Update 11/4/2015 - The dataset is updating normally again.

Expanded Alternative Fuel Locations

We have expanded the Alternative Fuel Locations dataset from Chicago-only to cover Northeast Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and Southwest Wisconsin. If you want only Chicago locations, please use the new Alternative Fuel Locations - Chicago filtered view.

We have also enhanced the Alternative Fuel Locations map to color-code the type of alternative fuel at each location.

Replacing Youth Centers dataset with Family and Support Services Delegate Agencies

We have published a Family and Support Services Delegate Agencies dataset, which is a list of the delegate agencies with which the Department of Family and Support Services has contracted to provide services to residents of Chicago.  This dataset replaces the Youth Centers dataset.  It includes both more rows (all delegate agency types) and more columns of data about each agency.

We will deprecate the Youth Centers dataset on or after 11/2/2015.  Please update any links and API endpoints before that date.

Datasets are not updating - 10/5/2015

Due to a planned outage yesterday and an unexpected server issue this morning, none of our automated dataset updates have run yet today and some datasets were last updated Saturday.  Datasets that reflect routine, business-hours City activities should still be largely up-to-date because few records are created or changed in the underlying systems over a weekend.

Update 10/6/2015 - The problems were resolved yesterday and all datasets updated this morning.

Link to PDF of contract in Contracts dataset

We have added a column to the Contracts dataset, providing a link to a PDF of the contract if one is available.

We also changed the sort order to be descending by Approval Date.

Missing time slices in beach automated sensor datasets

Some hourly updates for the Beach Water Quality - Automated Sensors and Beach Weather Stations - Automated Sensors datasets have been failing since yesterday. The Chicago Park District is aware of the problem and is working to fix it.

Unlike some datasets, the nature of how these datasets are updated means the missing time slices will not be filled in, even after the underlying problem is fixed.
